Ministry Description

Messiah Lutheran Church

 

Door Greeter

 

Purpose:

To welcome all members and guests to our worship services.

 

Our greeters are usually the first impression a guest is given when they attend our worship.  It is very important that they feel welcome.  It is also important for our own members to be made welcome as they walk through our doors.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be called by your Team Captain to be notified of your assigned Sunday.
  • On the day you are scheduled, be at church 15 minutes before the service and report to the door you are assigned to.  You will greet until 10 minutes into the service.
  • Shake hands, and warmly greet those who come through our doors.
  • If there is a guest, please walk them to the Guest Information Desk personally and introduce them to those working the desk.  If you are alone at the door, please verbally direct the guest(s) to the desk and invite them to sign our guest book.

Time involved:

Early Service Greeters: 1 Sunday every other month

Late Service Greeters: 1 Sunday a month

Possibly 1 – 2 special services such as Advent or Lenten Services

Hebrews 13:1-2 Keep on loving each other as brothers.  Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Romans 12:13 Share with God’s people who are in need.  Practice hospitality.
