Purpose:

To read God’s Epistle for our Worship Services. It is important to share God’s Word with one another and a reader, you are a witness for Christ to those who attend services at Messiah.

Responsibilities:

*Read over the assigned reading that you receive approximately one week before you are scheduled to read.

*Arrive at church 15 minutes early to pray with Pastor and others who are assisting for the service.

*Sit on the lfet side of the Sanctuary, sitting in the front of the church.

*Walk up the steps by the pastors and go to the microphone that is on the altar during the reading of the Gradual or Psalmody, and begin reading as oon as it is finished.  End with, “This is the Word of the Lord” and leave going the same way you came.

Time involved:

One Sunday every year for early service readers.  One Sunday every six months for late service readers.
