Ministry Description

Messiah Lutheran Church

 

Guest Information Desk Volunteer

 

Purpose:

To welcome our guests, give them a welcome packet and make sure they sign our guest book.

 

The importance to Messiah is in making the guest feel welcome through helping them with their first worship experience with us joyful.  If they feel at home they will most likely visit again.  And through the information received, the visitation team and the assimilation team are able to keep in contact with the guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before the worship service on your scheduled day.  Put on greeter ribbon and your nametag.
  • Make sure the Guest Information Desk is ready with welcome packets, and guest nametags.  Grab Sunday bulletin so you have Bible Class listing.  Familiarize yourself with the church map found at the desk and information from the bulletin.
  • When a guest comes to the desk, make sure they sign their name, address and phone number in the guest book.  Give them their welcome materials and answer any questions they may have.  Direct them to the sanctuary if needed.

Time involved:

Early Service: Once every two months

Late Service: Once a month

May be asked to work the desk for special services, such as Advent or Lenten Services once or twice a year.

Biblical basis:

1 Peter 4:9-10 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each one should use whatever gift he has received to others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Hebrews 13:1-2 Keep on loving each other as brothers.  Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Romans 12:13 Share with God’s people who are in need.  Practice hospitality.
