Worship Ministry

Messiah Lutheran Church

 

Usher

Purpose:

To greet, assist and show warmth to worshipers as they come into the Sanctuary at each worship service. Having an usher team assures an orderly service and provides assistance whenever required to our members and visitors.

Responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*Be responsible to usher the day you are scheduled.

 

*Greet worshipers as they enter the Sanctuary, handing them a bulletin.

 

*Assist in the offering and Holy Communion with instructions from the Head Usher.

 

*Assist worshipers with small children by opening doors, etc. Visit the nursery to make sure everything is okay.  Help to locate seats for latecomers.

 

*At the end of the worship, organize the Sanctuary by picking up items left behind, bulletins; take care of chairs, if necessary and collect the attendance sheets.  One usher will take the sheets and attendance total down to the church office.

Time involved:

One Sunday service each month. During Lent and Advent one Wednesday service may be assigned.  Teams are also alternated for those months with 5 Sundays.
