Music: Making a Joyful Sound to the Lord

Messiah is known for its vibrant Music Ministry. Our Lord has blessed this congregation with an abundance of talented musicians who serve in various groups. Our Director of Music, Dorothy Sherrod, coordinates these groups, which serve to enrich our worship services as we seek to glorify God in our music.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir is an exciting group comprised of adults who enjoy singing together.  In addition to offering anthems in regular worship services, this group lends its gift of music to many other special worship services such as the Tenebrae Service on Good Friday and Christmas concert.  Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 7-8:15 pm in the choir room.  Childcare during rehearsals is provided upon request.

Incredible Praise Machine

The Incredible Praise Machine is Messiah's Contemporary praise team for youth from 6th-12th grades.  They rehearse from 3:30-4:30 on Sundays.

Choirsters

The Choirsters is Messiah's choir for children grades 3-5. This group provides anthems during regular worship services, leads a Children's Praise Service, and also is involves in a musical along with the Cherubs.  Rehearsals are each Tuesday from 6-7 pm in the Multi-purpose Room.

Cherubs

The Cherubs is Messiah's youngest choir for children in grades K-2.  In addition to providing uplifting anthems in regular worship they help with the Children's Praise Service and musical along with the Choirsters.  Rehearsals are each Tuesday from 6-7 pm in the Pre-School Music Room.

Joyful Ringers

The Joyful Ringers is Messiah's handbell choir, composed of youth and adults.  This choir plays monthly in the worship services, as well as some Wednesday nights.  Rehearsals are on Sundays from 4:30-5:30 pm in the Santuary.

Handbells 101

This groups is for those who want to learn the beginning basics of handbells.  They work together with the Joyful Ringers to present musical offerings in the worship services.  Rehearsals are on Sundays from 4-4:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

Praise Teams

Messiah's Praise Teams offer members who love contemporary music an opportunity to use their gifts in singing, playing drums, guitar, piano, and other instruments.  There are five teams which alternate weekly to lead our 11:00 am Contemporary Service.  Rehearsals are each Wednesday from 6-7 pm and 7:45-8:45 pm in the Sanctuary

Instrumental Ensemble

Messiah's Instrumental Ensemble is composed of both youth and adults.  They bring a majesty and excitement to our worship services as they play monthly.  This group is for all instrumentalists playing brass, woodwing, string, or precussion instruments.  Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:45-8:45 pm in the Choir Room.
